7/52 GEAR, when it has to work 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year

This mold is just like the old wooden box molds you may have seen being used to mold flatback holsters and cases with an extra benefit. The benefit is that this mold can not only be used to make a double mag pouch but also to make a single mag pouch. If you want to make a single only press your leather into one side. If you want a double, press on both sides. Easy as pie. To use this mold you just take your piece of leather (7-8oz) and get it nice and wet. Once it is wet, align the top of your leather with the top of the magazine-shaped male buck (or a predetermined height on the buck depending on how high up you want the leather to come on the mag). Then use your fingers to begin pressing your leather into one side of the mold. Once you have pressed it in as far as you can with your fingers, press the male buck into place. We like using either a hammer or arbor press for this part since it’s easier on the hands. Once your first male buck is in place, repeat the process with your other side. Be aware that your leather will try to fight you and curve at the top. Just correct as best as you can and if you are unhappy when you get done take it out and try again. Once you are happy with how it looks, let it sit for about 10-15 minutes and take them out and let your leather dry over the male bucks to maintain its shape.
This mold is made with polyurethane that is similar in durability and hardness to blueguns. This makes them have good strength and it will be very difficult to break or destroy in your shop. We even got a video of Dusty Harvey driving a truck over one.
THE LEATHER WILL NOT DRY OUT IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE IT. THIS IS NOT WOOD THAT CAN SOAK UP AND DRY OUT, IT IS PLASTIC.
